I sat
at our place by the sea,
But there was no us, simply, just me
Nothing else had changed a bit
The sea still roared, as I sat in front of it
Its strange really, though you are gone
Life, still just seems to carry on
The sea air is still salty and sweet
Sand still gets in your shoes and around your feet
The seagulls that you loved so much
When you were a child you chased to touch
I still see you, in my mind, running around
Making that silly childish bird sound
Asking if they had enough to eat
Never giving up in defeat
How as your illness progressed to its height
You would try with all your might
Never to let the pain show through
Even though you guessed we knew
But now you're gone and what pain I feel
Wishing you were here to keep me on an even keel
Thank you for the strength you made sure I had
When times were really treating you bad
Thank you for the times you were there
Thanx just because you cared
